12 traded forms Steel · Ferroalloys Primary sources
Crude steel and the underlying metals (Mn, Cr, Ni, Si) are not commodity-traded directly — the seaborne market prices their product forms. TSM Hub tracks every form with an active futures contract or recognised PRA assessment.

Steel 7 products

Steel group overview →

World crude-steel output reached ~1,900 Mt in 2025 (USGS MCS 2026 Iron and Steel). Crude steel itself is not traded — the seaborne market prices these downstream product forms.

HRC cleared futures

Hot-Rolled Coil (HRC)

Flat-rolled carbon steel coil — the highest-volume steel product traded with cleared futures.

Rebar cleared futures

Rebar (Steel Reinforcing Bar)

Deformed long-product carbon steel bar for concrete reinforcement — Turkey FOB sets the global spot benchmark.

Plate note

Steel Plate

Heavy flat-rolled carbon and alloy steel plate for shipbuilding, line pipe, pressure vessels and yellow goods.

Stainless cleared futures

Stainless Steel

Cr/Ni alloy steel with corrosion resistance — the largest end-market for FeCr and FeNi.

Scrap cleared futures

Ferrous Scrap

Recycled steel — the dominant feedstock for the EAF route and the largest recycled material on Earth.

Pig Iron cleared futures

Pig Iron

Hot metal from the blast furnace — the BF-BOF feed and a globally traded EAF supplement competing directly with scrap.

DRI/HBI note

DRI / HBI

Direct reduced iron and hot briquetted iron — the gas-reduction route to virgin iron units and the cornerstone of decarbonised steel.

Ferroalloys 5 products

Ferroalloys group overview →

Ferroalloys are iron-based master alloys that carry Mn, Cr, Ni or Si into steel during refining. No ferroalloy has a regulated cleared-futures contract — pricing is by Fastmarkets, Argus and Platts assessments.

FeMn note

Ferromanganese (FeMn)

High-Mn iron alloy (74-95% Mn) — the deoxidising and alloying agent for virtually every grade of steel.

FeCr note

Ferrochromium (FeCr)

High-Cr iron alloy (~50-70% Cr) — the dominant chromium feed to stainless steel.

FeNi cleared futures

Ferronickel (FeNi)

Iron-nickel alloy from laterite ore — Class II nickel feed for stainless steel, dominated by Indonesia.

SiMn note

Silicomanganese (SiMn)

Iron-silicon-manganese alloy (~65-68% Mn + 14-21% Si) — the largest-tonnage ferroalloy on Earth, ahead of FeMn alone.

FeSi note

Ferrosilicon (FeSi)

Iron-silicon alloy (~45-90% Si) — the primary silicon source for steelmaking and the deoxidant in electrical steels.

How product prices are sourced

Every product page lists external link-outs grouped by tier. TSM does not republish numeric prices — it routes you to the primary venue. Same OTSFA principle as the metal pages.
